17 THE DOCTORS COMPANY FOUNDATION The Doctors Company Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors that includes current clinical practitioners, researchers, professors, and retired leaders in their fields, ensuring expertise spanning multiple disciplines and settings. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $8.5 million in grants supporting patient safety initiatives. The Doctors Company Foundation has been a steadfast supporter of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI’s) Lucian Leape Institute for more than 15 years, funding essential programming including the widely adopted tool RCA2: Improving Root Cause Analyses and Actions to Prevent Harm. We were deeply saddened by the passing in 2025 of the Lucian Leape Institute’s founding chairman, Lucian Leape, MD.
